A center of regional cultural events, the 2,600-seat Orpheum Theater hosts concerts by nationally touring musicians and local performers, plays, ballet recitals and special lectures. Constructed in 1927 and initially serving as a vaudeville hall, a $10 million renovation has restored the theater to its original magnificence, providing hand-carved ornamentation, marble details and ornate crystal chandeliers. The historical building is a few blocks southwest of the Gene Leahy Mall and the Holland Performing Arts Center in downtown.
